| PARENT INFO(accreditation,safety,& philosophy): |
Jurassicamp was created to bring our campers ages 5-10
into the wondrous world of Dinosaurs & Fossils (Paleontology).
While the Jurassicampers are learning about the many
species of dinosaurs and prehistoric life, they will
actually receive real fossils to keep from the periods
such as dinosaur bone fragments, Trilobites, and Ammonites.
These fossils will actually be found by digging in our
specially designed dig boxes.
Accreditation
We are proud to be awarded accreditation by the American Camping Association (ACA). We received
this honor because we met the strict guide lines and
requirements of safety, programming, staffing and facilities.
We are one of only a handful of camps in the state of
Florida to have attained this national accreditation.
Age & Grade Appropiatness
Since we opened our first camp
in 1989, we have gathered a wealth of experience developing
and providing a fun and exciting program that is age
and grade specific. Cognitive learning skills, and emotional
maturity are just a few of the factors we have used
over the years to develop programs that will not only
be fun, but "comfortable" for young people
of all backgrounds. For example, we make every effort
to arrange the groups so that each child has an age
or grade in common. We know from experience that a child
is not going to enjoy our camp if he or she is intimidated
by older students or can’t keep up with the intellectual
or physical demands of a level higher than what we have
designed for them. Please help us achieve the very best
experience possible for your child by enrolling him
in the appropriate age or grade level.
Counselors & Safety
You are entrusting us with the
security and well being of your child. Our rigid standards
for hiring qualified counselors, as well as training
them, have been established to ensure that your child
enjoys a safe, fun and educational experience while
attending any of our programs. While a significant percentage
of our staff are education majors and teachers, others
are pursuing degrees in business, science, math or the
liberal arts. The common thread they all share is that
they want to work with children. Every potential counselor
must pass a comprehensive background check prior to
employment. Once employed, and before they ever meet
a camper, all program staff members receive training
in the following areas: program facts and history; first
aid and CPR; proper discipline techniques as outlined
by the American Camping Association; and age-specific
behavioral characteristics.
Philosophy
FunCamps strives to provide a safe,
secure environment dedicated to the education of magic
and Theatrical skills, while developing the child’s
talents, self-esteem and interactive social aptitude.
It is our intention to attain these goals by providing
our campers with the highest standards of care, personal
training, and a well-structured curriculum.
